Notice of Intent
The Beaver Township Trustee hereby publishes the Pulaski County Public Library’s (the “Library”) Notice of Intent to File a Petition for Acceptance of Expansion Proposal of library service to the citizens and taxpayers of Beaver Township (the “Expansion Proposal”) pursuant to Indiana Code 36-12-5-3 (the “Notice of Intent”).
Beginning the first day after this Notice of Intent is published, and during the period which ends 60 days after such publication, a registered voter in Beaver Township may sign one or both of (1) a petition in support of the Expansion Proposal and (2) a remonstrance in opposition to the Expansion Proposal. Such petition or remonstrance must be filed with the Clerk of the Pulaski County Circuit Court. The requirement of such form of petition and remonstrance is governed by Indiana Code 36-12-5-3.
A petition of acceptance of the Expansion Proposal must be signed by at least 20% of the currently registered voters in Beaver Township. If a remonstrance has not been filed or a greater number of voters have signed the petition than have signed the remonstrance, the Township Board shall agree to the Expansion Proposal by written resolution. If the number of registered voters who have signed a remonstrance against the establishment of an expanded library district is equal or greater than the number who have signed the petition in support of the Expansion Plan, the Township Board shall dismiss the petition.
