ORDINANCE NO. 2026-06-01
PROHIBITING THE SQUEALING OF TIRES IN TOWN LIMITS
WHEREAS, numerous Town residents have expressed concern over the unnecessary squealing of tires in Town limits; and
WHEREAS, Town residents have not only been disturbed by the noise, they have also expressed concern over the public health and safety of the Town and residents herein due to the erratic driving that also coincides with the squealing of tires; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council has requested the Town Marshal pursue any and all relief available under the laws of the State of Indiana if a factual circumstance(s) so dictate(s); and
WHEREAS, in addition, the Town Council reasonably believes that it is in the best interest of the Town and residents herein to prohibit the squealing of tires in Town limits.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the Town Council of the Town of Medaryville, Indiana, as follows:
1. Squealing Tires Prohibited. No person shall operate a motor vehicle in the Town so as to disturb the peace and quiet of any neighborhood or family by loud or unusual noise. The starting of a motor vehicle from a standing or parked position in such a manner as to squeal or spin the tires shall constitute a violation of this Ordinance.
2. Violation. Any person found to be in violation of this Ordinance shall be fined an amount of $100.00. Each violation shall constitute a separate offense. Nothing in this Ordinance shall prevent the Town Marshal or other law enforcement agency from also seeking any criminal charge(s) against the violator or the Town from seeking any additional injunctive relief or civil causes of action against the violator.
