Notice is hereby given that on the 6th day of February, 2025, 5:00 P.M. E.S.T., a public hearing will be held before the Pulaski County Advisory Plan Commission (“APC”) in the Pulaski County Highway Garage, 1131 US-35, Winamac, Indiana, 46996 on proposal to impose a two-year moratorium prohibiting the acceptance, review, filing, or approval, of any application by any person, firm, or entity seeking to place or install a Battery Energy Storage System (“BESS”) on any property within the jurisdiction of Pulaski County, Indiana.
The purpose of this proposed Ordinance for the moratorium, is to maintain the status quo while the County seeks to understand the impact of BESS within the zoning jurisdiction of Pulaski County, its effects on residents and natural resources, and to conduct appropriate studies and to gauge whether BESS is acceptable within Pulaski County, and if so, the extent to which regulations should be developed and enforced.
The proposed Ordinance and all submitted documentation are available for review Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Building/Zoning Department, County Building, 125 South Riverside Drive, Suite 150, Winamac.
The APC has set said hearing at the time and place specified. Written suggestions or objections concerning this proposed Ordinance may be filed with the Plan Administrator or Administrative Secretary a minimum of 48 hours prior to the hearing and will be heard by the APC at the time and place specified. Interested persons desiring to present their views regarding the proposed Ordinance, either in writing or verbally, will be given the opportunity to be heard at the above-mentioned time and place or via digital means. Said hearing may be continued from time to time as may be necessary.
The APC will hold a Special Session immediately following the Public Hearing to discuss a proposal to impose a two-year moratorium prohibiting the acceptance, review, filing, or approval, of any new application by any person, firm, or entity seeking to place or install a Commercial Energy Solar System on any property within the jurisdiction of Pulaski County, Indiana.
