Willie Miller

Jan. 31, 1928 — April 20, 2024

Willie Miller, 96, of Francesville, formerly of Bailey’s Corner, passed away at 4:10 a.m., Saturday, April 20, at Parkview Haven Retirement Home in Francesville. 

He was born on Jan. 31, 1928, in Arthur Mable, Kentucky to the late Will and Dovie (Howard) Miller. Willie worked as a lumberjack in Kentucky before moving to Indiana in 1968 and going to work for the Monon Railroad (now CSX). He retired from the railroad after 23 years of service. 

Willie was a member of the United Baptist Church of Bailey’s Corner. He was an animal lover and especially enjoyed raising horses and mules. Willie loved his family very much and will be dearly missed. 

He is survived by sons: Radie [Corleen] Miller, Medaryville, Marcus [Rhodora] Miller, West Lafayette, Willie Miller, Jr., Francesville, John [René] Miller, Freemont and Josh Hale, Indianapolis; daughters: Wilma [Kenneth] Saylor, Florida/Michigan, Sally [Marion] Landrum, Knox, Bonda [Richard] Wetmore, Pleasant Lake, Michigan, and Christine [Scott] Donovan, Delphi; sons-in-law: Mitchell Bailey, Medaryville, Danny Wireman, Wheatfield, and Joe Dean Hopkins, Rensselaer; 25 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great grandchildren. 

Preceded in death by parents: Will and Dovie (Howard) Miller; former spouse Mildred Bailey; daughters: Ruthene Bailey, Joyce Wireman and Ethel Miller; grandson Rodney Miller; granddaughter Marlana Miller; great-great grandson Maverik Garcia; sisters: Pairott Wireman, Lana Shepherd and Victoria West; and brothers: Sam Miller, Mitchell Miller and Arnold Miller.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, April 25, at the Frain Mortuary Querry­-Ulbricht Chapel in Medaryville. 

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, April 26, at the Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Medaryville, with Pastor Alvin Allen officiating. 

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, April 26, at Kingsbury Cemetery in Kingsbury. 

Memorial contributions may be made to Little Dove Baptist Church or Parkview Haven Retirement Home.
