William J. “Bill” Braun

Nov. 21, 1946 — June 29, 2016

William J. “Bill” Braun, 69, of Winamac, passed away at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, surrounded by his family at home. 

Bill was born on Nov. 21, 1946, to Herman and Marjorie Braun. He graduated from Star City High School in 1964 and served six years in the Indiana Army National Guard. On Nov. 21, 1970, Bill married the love of his life, Deborah Von Tobel. She survives.

Bill was a lifelong farmer and active member of the community. He had served on the Pulaski County Fair Board, Pulaski County 4-H Council, and the Fulton County REMC Board. He was a member of the Pulaski County Pork Producers and Star City Lions Club as well as a former Pulaski County 4-H Leader.

Bill enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his wife Deborah A. Von Tobel Braun of Winamac; son David [Nancy] Braun of Kokomo; daughters: Susan [Brian] Brothers of Columbus, Ohio, and Sarah [Shaun] Kasten of Winamac; grandsons: Alex Braun, Nicholas Braun, Adam Brothers and Austin Kasten; granddaughters: Alexandria Glenn, Samantha Glenn, Elizabeth Weiss and Madyson Kasten; mother Marjorie A. (Clark) Braun of Winamac; and sisters: Carol Shafer of Plymouth, and Kay [Jim] DeWitt of Royal Center. 

He was preceded in death by his father Herman J. Braun; and infant brother Jerry Braun. 

Visitation was 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, at Frain Mortuary, with Rev. Tom Dewlen officiating. Private burial will take place in Reed Cemetery, Winamac.

Memorial contributions may be given to Pulaski County Quilts of Valor or Star City Lions Club.
