Vickie Foudray
“We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.” (2 Corinthians 5:8)
As her family surrounded her with love, prayer, and song, Vickie Joan (Jackson) Foudray, 73, went home to be with Jesus on June 25.
Vickie was born on Aug. 23, 1952, in Winchester, to the late Joan Reinholt and Rex Jackson. After graduating with the Kewanna High School Class of 1970, she returned to Winchester, where she married the love of her life, John David Foudray, on July 15, 1972. Vickie was a devoted in-home childcare provider who touched the lives of countless children and families throughout her career. She also loved reading, cooking, and sharing her faith as a longtime member of the Portland Apostolic Center. Above all else, Vickie adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and cherished every moment spent with family and friends.
Vickie is survived by many loved ones, including her children: son David [fiancée: Haifa] Foudray, daughter Brianna [Tracey] Sparks; and son John Eric [Andrea]Foudray; grandchildren: Jordan [Alex] Foudray, Ethan [Morgan] Foudray, Payton Sparks, Connor [fiancée: Averi] Sparks, Seth [Kelly] Foudray, Justin [Ashley] Foudray, Zayne Buckner, and Emilee Buckner; great-grandchildren: Halston Foudray, Milo Foudray, Iris Foudray, Laiken Foudray, Leland Foudray, Grayson Johnson, Jasper Foudray, and Gwendolyn Foudray; siblings: Lisa Reidy, Kim [Garry] Foerg, Eric [Carol] Colvin, and Mike [Anita] Jackson; as well as several other family members who loved Vickie dearly.
Vickie was preceded in death by her husband John Foudray; mother Joan Reinholt; father Rex Jackson; stepfathers: Max Colvin and Gene Reinholt; brothers: Hank Jackson and Vince [Lisa] Jackson; brother-in-law, Tim Reidy; and niece, Bridget Reidy.
Vickie was known for her gentle spirit, and she lived her life treasuring God’s enduring presence. One passage of Scripture that brought her great comfort was Psalm 91. “I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’” (Psalm 91:2). Faith was the foundation of her life, and the hope she found in Christ sustained her. While her family and friends will miss her deeply, they rejoice in the promise that she is now in the presence of the Lord she loved so faithfully.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 1 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Portland Apostolic Center, 200 East Elder Street, Portland, Indiana. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1 p.m.
