Sue Young
Olive Kay “Sue” Young, 75, of Winamac, went Home to be with the Lord on Monday, Aug. 18. She passed away peacefully at Hickory Creek in Winamac.
She was born on April 12, 1950 in Winamac. On Nov. 20, 1970, Sue married Lenvel Franklin “Len” Young in Monticello. Sue and Len shared a wonderful life together. Known to many as “Olive Oil” and “Popeye,” they were devoted partners in all walks of life – especially on the dance floor! On Dec. 20, 2020, Len was called to his Heavenly Home just one month after the couple celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary.
Sue worked as a CNA for many years and also served as the site manager of the Von Tobel Senior Center at Winamac. She was an active volunteer in many areas of the community. Sue was always supportive of her children, having served as a leader for Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and 4-H. She loved her family very much and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Sue was kind, generous, outgoing. She always brought laughter and hugs to all.
Sue is survived by son Pierre Len Young, Royal Center; daughters: Dr. Tonia Kay Young-Babb, Kokomo and Sonia May Herrick, Logansport; grandsons: SSG. Justin Len [Jill] Young, US Army, Noah Loyal [Jessica] Young, Cody Silas [Quinlyn] Rude, Jacob Eugene Babb, Dr. Richard Everett Babb, Jason Daniel Martin and SSG. Tylar Len [Alyssa] Martin, US Army; granddaughters: Loren Rebecca Young and Breanna Ruth Gilbert; great-grandson Zander Young; great-granddaughters: Kourtlyn Eilen Young, Juniper Iris Rude, Aubri; sister Karen Marie Pratt, Logansport; half-siblings: Tom Foust, Penny Keyser, Nancy Foust, and Cindy Eastwood; many nieces and nephews; and family friends: Mary Fort and her children: Marsha Wilson, Deana Fort, and Shirley Fort.
Preceded in death by husband Lenvel Franklin “Len” Young; daughter Crystal Elaine Young; daughter-in-law Shanna Mae “Becky” Young; son-in-law Richard “Dick” Babb; infant great-grandson Carson Silas Rude; mother Betty Maxine (Galbreath) Foust Markley Kloenne; step-fathers: Loren Paul Markley and Robert Eugene Kloenne; father Willard Louis Foust; step-mother Evelyn Viola “Sally” (Engle) Foust; sisters: Kathy Loren Webb and Carol Lynn Crist; and brothers-in-law: David Webb, Tim Pratt and Rex Crist.
Cremation will take place at Frain Crematory in Winamac.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. – noon, Friday, Sept. 5, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac.
Services will be held at noon on Friday, Sept. 5, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac, with Pastor Heath Hiatt officiating.
Private entombment will take place at Winamac Cemetery in Winamac.
Memorial contributions may be made to Pulaski County Human Services for the Von Tobel Senior Center.
