Shirley F. Dunkel

April 6, 1947 — Aug. 14, 2023

Shirley F. Dunkel, 76, of LaGrange, passed away on Monday, Aug. 14, at her home surrounded by family.  

She was born on April 6, 1947, at the family farm in rural Winamac. Shirley attended Pulaski Grade/High School. On Sept. 3, 1988, she married James A. Dunkel in LaGrange. She worked at Ohio Table Pad Co. in LaGrange for many years until retirement. 

Shirley enjoyed reading, going on walks and spending time with her family. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband James A. “Jim” Dunkel, of LaGrange; son Brian K. “Keithy” Jones, of Topeka; daughter Leslie M. Williams-Lettsome, of Oceanside, California; grandsons: Bryce A. Jones, Brandon A. Jones, Bailey E. Jones and Timothy D. Williams; granddaughters: Kaitlyn C. [Daniel] Arseneau and Casey N. [Patrick McBarnes] Williams; three great-grandchildren: Braxton, Mia and Parker; sisters: Lovilla June Tetzloff, of Howe and Carol Pinks, of Winamac; brothers: Leroy [Maggie] Stout, of Star City, Mark [Sherry] Stout, of Star City and Devon Stout, of Star City; sister-in-law Carol Stout; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by parents: Berl L. and Fern Fay (Roberts) Stout; former husband Leslie E. Jones; son Michael E. Jones; brothers: Arnold Levon Stout, Lowell Thomas Stout and George Burley [Edris] Stout; sisters: Darlene Kay [Charles, Jr.] Johns, Ruth Elaine [Bill] Oliver and Roberta Jo [Donald, Sr.] Johns; brothers-in-law: Hugh Tetzloff and Charles Pinks; sister-in-law Bonnie Stout; and  nephew Doug Stout. 

Visitation was from 4-8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 18, at Frain Mortuary (305 E. Main St. Winamac, IN 46996).

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 19, at Bell Center Bible Church (11971 E. SR 16 Burnettsville, IN 47926) with Pastor Ed Roller officiating.  

Burial took place at Koster Cemetery in Francesville.  

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
