Sarah E. Burns

Sarah Elizabeth Burns, 40, of Winamac, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, June 19. She passed away peacefully at home following a long battle with Scleroderma. 

Sarah was born on March 23, 1986 in Winamac to Steven Jordan and Patti Jo (Rife) Burns. She graduated from Winamac High School in 2005.  

Sarah was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Winamac and loved her church family. She enjoyed all of God’s creation, especially bird watching. Cardinals were her favorite bird which Sarah nicknamed “Spiky Mohawk Cuties.” Sarah enjoyed mailing cards to others, praying, and reading her Bible. She also enjoyed making goodie bags for children at church and visiting with friends in the nursing home.  

On July 5, 1992, Sarah accepted Christ. Throughout her life, Sarah faithfully served the Lord. Though living with the disease, Scleroderma, Sarah never lost sight of her faith. She continually said, “God is good” and “my cup in life is full.” She was truly blessed and always hopeful that someone would be saved in Christ through her testimony.    

Sarah loved her family very much, especially spending time with her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed having them stay the night and planned extra special themed parties, just for them. Sarah loved her nieces and nephews “to the moon and back.” She was blessed with a loving family, special friends and her dog, Emmy. Sarah will be truly missed by her friends and family.

She is survived by mother Patti Jo (Rife) Burns, Winamac; sister Shannon [husband: Ben] Wampler, Warsaw; brother Jacob [wife: Kate] Burns, Winamac; nephews: Luke Wampler, Austin Burns and Micah Burns; nieces: Rose Wampler, Violet Wampler, Oakley Burns and Hadley Burns.

Preceded in death by father, Steven Jordan Burns.

Visitation was from 1-3 p.m., Thursday, June 25, at Fellowship Baptist Church in Winamac.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Thursday, June 25, at Fellowship Baptist Church in Winamac with Pastor Jamie Mitchell officiating.

Burial took place at Winamac Cemetery (McKinley Addition) in Winamac.
