Ruby Ann Cotner
Ruby Ann Cotner, 84, of Winamac, passed away at 8:16 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at Parkview Haven Retirement Home in Francesville.
Ruby was born on June 18, 1932, in Winamac, to the late William E. and Effie R. (Geiger) Degner. She was married to the late Maurice E. Cotner on Oct. 14, 1953. He passed away on Dec. 8, 2001.
Ruby was a lifelong homemaker and farmer. She was skilled at driving the tractor and truck as well as cooking all while keeping track of her kids. Ruby was active in her kids’ lives, including serving as a leader of the Busy Beavers 4-H Club and supported the county fair. She was a former member of the Happy Homemaker Home Ec. Club. Ruby was an avid arrowhead hunter and enjoyed jigsaw puzzles.
Ruby was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be sadly missed.
She is survived by her sons: Ed Cotner of Winamac, Bob [Lisa] Cotner of Sunman, and Doug Cotner of Winamac; grandsons: Shaun [Molly] Cotner, Ryan Cotner, Kyle Cotner and Chad [Emilee] Cotner; granddaughters: Christina Cotner and Heather Cotner [Randy] Zins; great-grandchildren Rebecca and Zachary Zins; sister Patty [James] Hoffman of Winamac; brother-in-law Don Cotner of Winamac; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents William E. and Effie R. (Geiger) Degner; husband Maurice E. Cotner; grandson Roger Douglas Cotner; granddaughter Tasha Cotner; sisters: Eula Cotner, Vivian Degner, Donna DeLorenzo and Nila Degner; and brothers: Dale Degner and Robert Degner.
Visitation was held Thursday, Oct. 20, from 4-7 p.m. at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Francesville. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 21, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Francesville. Rev. Edward Clark officiated. Burial took place at Tippecanoe Cemetery in Winamac.
