Roseann “Rosie” Ols
Roseann “Rosie” Ols, 85, of Winamac, passed away Thursday, May 6 at her home.
She was born on September 15, 1935, in Winamac, to the late Charles and Margaret (Gerner) Hein.
Rosie graduated from Winamac High School. On November 8, 1954, she married Chris E. Ols in Michigan City. He passed away on July 24, 2007. Rosie was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Winamac and was an active member of the Christian Mothers and Ladies of Charity. She was also a member of Winamac Eagles #2580. She retired from Eaton’s in Winamac. Rosie enjoyed sewing and crocheting as well as traveling with her grandchildren. More than anything she loved her family very much and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her sister Jean Becker; daughter Margaret A. [Michael] Reid of Star City; son Chris A. [Lee] Ols of Greentown; granddaughters: Tonia [Jeremy Wegner] Reid, Erin [Chris Lease] Reid, Beth [Dave Fellers] Reid and Violet Ols; grandsons: Christopher Ols and Joshua Ols; four great-grandchildren: Gabriel, Penelope, Celia and Charlie; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Margaret (Gerner) Hein; husband Chris E. Ols; sisters: Dorothy O’Donnell, Ruth Dawson, Mildred Marquand and Mary Fritz; and brothers: Bill Hein and Chuck Hein.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 11 from 4-8 p.m. at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. The rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. followed by Christian Mothers and Ladies of Charity services.
A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 12 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Winamac with Rev. Andrew DeKeyser officiating. Burial will take place at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Winamac.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
