Richard S. Rude
Richard S. Rude, 79, of Royal Center, passed away on Saturday, May 4, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born on May 3, 1945, in Winamac, he was the son of the late Harold and Vivian (Stoner) Rude.
He was a Royal Center High School graduate.
Richard was a proud U.S. Army veteran where he served in the Vietnam War.
On June 23, 1967, he married Rebecca L. Byrd, she survives.
He retired from the Iron Worker Union Local 379 in Lafayette.
Richard was a former member of Star City Church of Christ and enjoyed golfing and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Rude of Royal Center; children: Brian Rude [Linda] of Logansport, Jennifer Steill [Brad] of Lafayette, Bradley Rude of Kokomo and Rachel Navel of Lafayette; sisters: Carolyn Wischmann of Florida, Vivian Howton [Richard] of Elkhart, Ginger Hoekstra [David] of Michigan and Sharin Najera [Michael] of Florida; and grandchildren: Sadie [Reed] McCormick, Ally [Reed] Schimmel, Jesse Reed, Hannah Steill, Rhett Steill, Brianna Rude-Doerges, Brooklyn Rude, Brandi Rude, Cody Rude and Mackinzee Rude.
He was also preceded in death by sister, Alice Howard; and great-grandchild, Carson Rude.
Services with military rites will be performed at 4 p.m., Thursday, May 9, at Rans Funeral Homes & Crematory, Harrison Chapel, 304 S. Chicago St., Royal Center.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.
