Ray A. Brown

April 25, 1939 — June 27, 2026

Ray A. Brown, of Elberfeld, passed away June 27, at the age of 87. He was born as an identical twin on April 25, 1939 in Star City.

He graduated from Star City High School in 1958, then entered the Navy for four years. He went on to be employed by the Federal Aviation Administration until retirement after 36 years. He also taught night classes for IVY Tech to the GE employees. In the meantime, he earned an Associates degree in General Studies from IU.

He was actively involved in Elberfeld American Legion Post 351 and NARFE organization.  

He was preceded in death by his parents: DJ and Harriett (Bell) Brown; daughter, Renea Bennett; sister, Deloris [Don] Galbreath; twin brother, Roy; sister-in-law, Lois; and brother-in-law, Toby Warner. 

Survived by his wife of 65 years, Carolyn; daughters: Belinda [Randy] Riecken and Treana [Chuck] Fields; son-in-law, David Bennett; brothers: Jim and John [Melody], sister, Mary Ann Warner; grandchildren: Brandon [Jess] Riecken, Kaleb [Ashley] Riecken, Brandy [Ted] O’Brien; and great-grandchildren: Kaley, Kensey, Lily and Levi Riecken and Cooper and Chloe O’Brien.

A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, at Alexander Memorial Park Heritage Chapel. Friends and family were able to visit from 10 a.m. until service time at the cemetery chapel.
