Marty S. Martindale

April 1, 1964 — July 14, 2025

Marty Scott “Sparky” Martindale, 61, of Monticello, passed away from natural causes on Monday, July 14. 

He was born on April 1, 1964 in Winamac, to Wilbur Scott “Marty” and Yavonna Joyce (Long) Martindale. Marty grew up in Star City and as a young boy, he made fond memories playing on the Tigers for Star City Little League.  After graduating from Winamac High School in 1982, he attended IUPUI and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from Purdue University. As a mechanical engineer, he traveled the world troubleshooting problems for Variotech based out of Lafayette.  

Marty was raised in the Star City Church of Christ and most recently attended Refuge Worship Center in Logansport. He had a generous heart and made numerous anonymous contributions to charitable organizations throughout his life. Marty enjoyed water skiing and partying. He loved his yellow and black ’73 Chevy Camaro and 80’s music.  

Marty was a simple man that will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by mother Yavonna Joyce (Long) Martindale, Winamac; brother Marshall [Shannon] Martindale, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; sister McKenzie [John] Forest, Winamac; nephews: Garrett Martindale and Brock Martindale; nieces: Kennady Martindale and Presley Martindale; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Preceded in death by father Wilbur Scott “Marty” Martindale.

Visitation was from 4-8 p.m., Friday, July 18, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac.

Graveside services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 19, at Buck Cemetery in Thornhope, with Pastor Dave Somers officiating.

Burial took place at Buck Cemetery in Thornhope.  

Memorial contributions may be made to Warrior Youth Baseball (formerly Star City Little League).
