Lorna Ann (Fitz) DePoy
Lorna Ann (Fitz) DePoy, 72, of Winamac, passed away at 8:56 a.m. Friday, Oct. 20, at the Pulaski Health Care Center in Winamac.
She was born on Oct. 29, 1944, to the late Wayne Wood and Mary Catherine (Neusbaum) Fitz. On March 29, 1964, Lorna married Darl Elmer DePoy at the Tippecanoe Christian Church in Winamac. Darl survives.
Lorna graduated from Francesville High School in 1962. She earned a degree from Manchester College in elementary education in 1965 and a master’s from Purdue University in 1972. She had worked as a teacher and a librarian. Lorna taught second grade at West Central schools and Head Start in Winamac. She was employed as a librarian at Francesville, Winamac and Medaryville.
Lorna was a member of Tippecanoe Christian Church and the Pulaski County Extension Homemakers Club. She enjoyed gardening, music, reading and photographing historic barns. Lorna enjoyed art and collecting.
Survivors also include her sons: Dewight [Lisa] DePoy of Francesville, Bryan [Valerie] DePoy of Monticello, and Scott [Stephanie] DePoy of Winamac; daughter Christine DePoy of Winamac; grandsons: Carl DePoy, Nathan DePoy, Sawyer DePoy and Seaver DePoy; granddaughters: Andrea [Phil] German, Nicole [Christopher] Fowler, Kelsey DePoy, Lindsey DePoy and Samantha DePoy; sisters: Minnie (Rater) Ledford of Winamac, Mary Catherine (Fitz) Becker of Winamac, and Alberta (Fitz) [Albert] Smith of Francesville; and brothers: William [Kay] Rater of Monon, and Wayne [Judy] Fitz of Winamac.
She was preceded in death by her parents Wayne Wood and Mary Catherine (Neusbaum) Fitz.
Visitation was from 3-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at the Tippecanoe Christian Church, 5292 W. 750 S., Winamac, IN 46996, and one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 25, at 11 a.m. at the Tippecanoe Christian Church with Rev. Edward Clark officiating. Burial will take place at Tippecanoe Cemetery in Winamac.
