Kyle Allen Lowry
Kyle Allen Lowry, 27, of Winamac, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 3.
Kyle was born on July 20, 1988, in Winamac, to Kent and Deena Lowry.
After completing high school, he received a bachelor’s degree in pastoral ministries from Olivet Nazarene University. From an early age, Kyle’s heart desired to serve the Lord. While at Olivet, Kyle was blessed with many opportunities to serve God and grow as a leader.
Kyle was very outgoing and active in student life. In 2011, he received the Student Lincoln Laureate Award for his outstanding achievements in academics and extracurricular activities. He served as: student body president; a member of the homecoming court; vice co-chair of the Nazarene Student Leadership Association (NSLA); a member of the food service committee; vice president for publicity for Seventh Reel Film Club; Associated Student Council (ASC) Social Life Committee; and in 2010, he was selected by his peers as “Mr. ONU.”
Kyle was an active member of the Winamac Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed music, especially following the Christian band UnderOath. He was an avid Boston Bruins fan and a Star Wars enthusiast.
Kyle enjoyed the outdoors, especially boating and fishing. His dog, Thomas, and his cat, Fredrick, were very special to him.
Kyle loved his family very deeply and will be dearly missed. He would want everyone to remember him as happy and outgoing, living life with a passion for the Lord.
Survivors include his parents Kent Allen and Deena Sue (Olson) Lowry of Winamac; sister Rachel Lowry, Winamac; grandfather Roland Lowry of Winamac; aunts: Linda [Jerry] Smith, Connie [John] Knowles, and Rita [Harold] Wiley; uncles: Randy [Kim] Lowry; Marvin [Barbara] Olson, Dennis [Janet] Olson, Gary Olson, and Philip [Virginia] Olson; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother Nancy Owen Lowry; grandparents Reuben and Inez (Sayers) Olson; and aunt Darlene Olson-Wildridge.
Visitation was 2-7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 7, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac, and one hour prior to services Monday. Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 8, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. Pastors Tara and Brett Smith officiated. Burial took place in the Winamac Cemetery, Winamac.
Memorial contributions may be given to Olivet Nazarene University or Winamac Church of the Nazarene (please specify in memory of Kyle Lowry).
