Keith C. Ernest

Keith C. Ernest, 56, of Winamac, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Sept. 16, in Winamac.

Born on March 2, 1970, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, he was the son of the late Arnold “Frenchie” and Elsie “Sandie” (Drake) Ernest.

Keith was formerly employed at BraunAbility in Winamac for about 12 years.

On April 14, 2018, he married Donnetta L. Grandstaff, she survives.

Keith enjoyed photography, going to low-rider truck shows and most of all spending time with his grandson.

Survivors include his wife, Donnetta; children: Madilynn Banta [James] and Hunter Conley; grandson, Ashton; brother-in-law, Paul Grandstaff; sisters-in-law: Maggie Ernest and Missy Hurlburt; and niece and nephews: Jacob, Maddie, Andrew, Charlie and Max.

He was also preceded in death by his brother, Michael Ernest; and mother-in-law, Carol Grandstaff.

In recent months, Keith quietly struggled with his mental health. In his memory, his family hopes to bring light to the importance of mental health awareness and suicide prevention. A gathering of family and friends will be from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 27, at Rans Funeral Homes & Crematory, 110 N. Sally Dr., Winamac.
