Karen A. (Foerg) Allen
Karen Ann (Foerg) Allen, 69, of Winamac, went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, Oct. 28, after battling an aggressive brain tumor.
Born on Jan. 18, 1956, she was the third child of Eugene and Nancy (Moore) Foerg. She graduated from Winamac Community High School in 1974 and attended Bible Baptist College in Springfield, Missouri. It was there that she met her husband, Ricky Allen. They were married on Oct. 11, 1975 in Knox and soon moved to Angier, North Carolina where they raised their children, Benjamin and Melissa. While Karen held several jobs over the years, she was most proud of the 33 years she worked as a Teacher’s Aide at the Governor Morehead School for the Blind in Raleigh, North Carolina. Following divorce and retirement, Karen returned to Winamac in 2018 to be closer to her siblings.
Karen enjoyed raising plants, crocheting and quilting. She completed numerous jigsaw puzzles which she framed and hung on the walls as beautiful pieces of art. Karen also enjoyed being outdoors, especially working in the yard and sitting on the porch visiting with family or friends. Most of all she treasured time spent with her children, grandchildren, and siblings.
Church was very important to her, and she faithfully served the Lord throughout her life. She always had a willing heart to help others in need whether they were friends or family. Karen will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by son Benjamin [Glory] Allen, Tulsa, Oklahoma; daughter Melissa [Clint] Stanley, Pilot Mountain, North Carolina; grandsons: Bradley Allen and Colt Stanley; granddaughters: Lauren Allen and Caitlin Stanley; brothers: Raymond [Julie] Foerg, Winamac and Parish [Tasha] Foerg, Buckeye, Arizona; sisters: Linda [Darl] Fritz, Winamac, Mary [Jim] Fishburn, Winamac and Sandi [Jim] Mohler, Litchfield, Ohio; many nieces and nephews; aunt Joyce Moore, Lafayette; numerous cousins; and former husband Ricky Allen, Pilot Mountain, North Carolina.
Preceded in death by maternal grandparents: Harley and Ellen (Riggs) Moore; paternal grandparents: Andrew and Laura (Crist) Foerg; father Eugene Foerg; mother Nancy (Moore) Foerg; and brother-in-law John Cargo.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 15, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 15, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
