John R. Crist

John R. Crist, 85, of LaGrange, died at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, on Monday, Nov. 11.

Mr. Crist was born on Jan.19, 1939, in Logansport, to Raymond W. and Mary (Harrison) Crist.

John was a graduate of Pulaski High School and was a United States Army veteran.

In 1990, he moved to LaGrange County to become the County Engineer where he worked until his retirement in 2010. After his retirement he worked for the LaGrange County Council on Aging as a driver. He was also a member of the County Highway Engineers Association and was a past president. John was member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in LaGrange.

On Dec. 18, 1974, in Wheaton, Illinois, he married Patricia A. Murphy; Mrs. Crist preceded him in death on March 12, 2009.

Surviving are his children: Patricia “Shelly” Johnson of Walkerton, Ann Thielking of Marion, Iowa, Sharon [Bill] Ball of Winamac, Kenneth [Kathy] Martin of Niles, Michigan and Michael [Lori] Crist of Thorntown; twelve grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Preceding John in death were his parents, his wife, and a granddaughter, Kathleen Martin.

Visitation was at 9 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 18, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 0050 N. 100 E., LaGrange, Indiana and continued until the funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at the church.

Burial followed at St. Joseph Cemetery South in Star City.
