James Richard Nitzschke

April 9, 1949 — June 25, 2015

James Richard Nitzschke, 66, of Wheatfield, formerly of Winamac, passed away at 7:35 p.m. Thursday, June 25, at Porter Regional Hospital in Valparaiso.

He was born April 9, 1949, in Winamac, to Gilbert and Sylvia (Poor) Nitzschke.

Jim was married on April 29, 2006, in Valparaiso, to Jacquelyn Engstrom. She survives.

He was a member of the Portage Masonic Lodge and the Murat Shrine, Michigan City.

Jim was a member of Sorrowful Mother Catholic Church, Wheatfield.

He loved to go fishing, camping, and riding his Harley.

Survivors include his wife Jacquelyn Ann Nitzschke of Wheatfield; daughter Kathy [Jeff] Keller of Monterey; son Marc Nitzschke of Powell, Ohio; stepsons: Gregory Lee [Shweta] Engstrom II of Valparaiso, and Brandon Michael Engstrom of Valparaiso; granddaughters: Sarah Keller, Karaline Keller and Ava Nitzschke; grandsons: Drew Nitzschke and Carter Nitzschke; stepgrandson Joshua Carver; stepgranddaughter Kenzie Carver; and brothers: George Nitzschke of California, and Jerry Poor of Rochester.

He was preceded in death by his parents Gilbert Clyde and Sylvia Mae (Poor) Nitzschke; and one sister.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
