James Keith Hauser
James Keith Hauser, 84, of Winamac, passed away at 4:19 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, in his residence.
He was born June 29, 1930, in Winamac, to Willard and Ruth (Sims) Hauser.
Jim was married to Loraine Schneider on May 17, 1952, in Manhattan, Kansas. Loraine passed away July 6, 1988. He later married Betty Gould on May 18, 2009, in Tunica, Mississippi. She survives.
He graduated from Star City High School in 1948 and lived in the area all of his life. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954.
He was the former owner of DH&W Farm Supply and Trucking in Winamac. He also had worked as the manager of the Winamac CFS Plant and Kewanna CFS Warehouse.
Jim was a longtime member and former chief of the Winamac Volunteer Fire Department. He was an active member of the VFW Post #1728 and American Legion Post #71 where he served as a member of the funeral honor guard. He also was a member of the Moose Lodge.
Jim was honored by the American Red Cross for his many years of blood donations.
He was a former member of the Pulaski County Water Rescue Team.
Jim loved to dance. He also loved fishing, biking, walking, bowling, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and liked to just putter around.
Survivors include wife Betty Gould of Winamac; daughter Janice [Jamie] VanGorder of Zionsville; son Jeffery [Darlene] Hauser of Avon; stepsons: James [Karla] Gould of Star City, and John [Robin] Gould of Star City; stepdaughters: Mary Mays of Winamac, and Cheryl [Rick] Schultz of Star City; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sisters: Mary Ann [Chuck] Webb of Winamac, and Olive Dalka of Medaryville.
He was preceded in death by his parents Willard and Ruth (Sims) Hauser; first wife Loraine (Schneider) Hauser; second wife Dovie Hauser; brothers: Bruce Hauser and Willard Hauser; stepgrandson Jerad Mays; and former companion Della Moon.
Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, April 16, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 17, at Frain Mortuary. Laura Bailey officiated. Burial took place in McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Winamac. Military graveside services were conducted by the American Legion and the VFW.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Winamac Volunteer Fire Department.
