Helena C. (Weaver) Smith Repp
Helena C. (Weaver) Smith Repp, 82, of Monterey, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 4, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac surrounded by the love of her family.
She was born on June 27, 1944 at the Carneal Hospital in Winamac to the late Omer and Vera (Tuley) Weaver. Helena attended school at Pulaski and never stopped learning throughout her life. On Nov. 12, 1978, she married Leonard J. Repp. He passed away on Dec. 31, 2005.
Helena worked at Singer’s in downtown Winamac before beginning a career at Eaton’s that spanned 35 years. In her retirement years, she was a beloved babysitter to numerous Monterey children. She enjoyed watching the old classic shows like: Matlock, Colombo, Murder She Wrote, Hawaii 5-0, and Kojak and anything on the Hallmark Channel. Helena was a talented seamstress; making clothing for herself and others. She was an avid gardener; raising beautiful flowers and an abundance of vegetables to can. She enjoyed special trips with family and the occasional night at the casino. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren who were the highlight of her life! Helena will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by daughters: Debbie Armstrong, Winamac and Carol [husband: Todd] Hartle, Warsaw; sons: Robert Repp, Plymouth, Daniel [wife: Jennifer] Smith, Monterey, Larry Repp, Bremen, Christopher [wife: Tabitha] Smith, Delong and Omer [wife: Shanon] Smith, Rochester; daughter-in-law Alma Smith, Rochester; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sister Catherine [husband: Jug] Stilwell, Royal Center; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents: Omer and Vera (Tuley) Weaver; husband Leonard J. Repp; former spouse Paul Smith, Sr.; son Paul “Doc” Smith, Jr.; grandson Ernest “Ernie” Armstrong III; sister Joan Daugherty; and brother Dave [wife: Joyce] Weaver.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, July 9, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 10, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac.
Burial will take place at Tippecanoe Twp. – Riverside Memorial Cemetery in Monterey.
Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to assist the family with final expenses.
