George R. Fugate
George Robert Fugate, 91, of Winamac, passed away on Monday, Dec. 29, at Hickory Creek Nursing Home in Winamac.
He was born on Aug. 6, 1934 in Gary, to the late Robert Potter and Maude Fay (Crane) Fugate. George graduated from Winamac High School. He served in the Indiana Army National Guard and US Army Reserves from 1952 to 1960. George married Phyllis Jean Hutchcraft on April 5, 1953 in Winamac. She passed away on Dec. 18, 2015.
George worked as a lineman for NIPSCO and retired after 37 years of dedicated service. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winamac. George was also a member of the Royal Center Lodge #585 F&AM and Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend. He received his Award of Gold in 2008.
He is survived by son Gilbert Fugate; daughters: Theresa [husband: Paul] Davis and Pamela Crum; grandsons: Steven [wife: Tiffany] Davis and Robert [wife: Andrea] Davis; granddaughters: Amy [husband: Brad] Johnson, Catharine [wife: Cassie] Walden and Jaimee Crum; many great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.
Preceded in death by parents: Robert Potter and Maude Fay (Crane) Fugate; wife Phyllis Jean (Hutchcraft) Fugate; daughter Debra Jean Fugate; and brother Andrew Fugate.
Cremation will take place at Frain Crematory in Winamac.
Private Burial with Military Honors will take place at Winamac Cemetery in Winamac.
Memorial contributions may be made to Pulaski Animal Center.
