Ernestine “Tina” (Mejia) Tetzloff
Ernestine “Tina” (Mejia) Tetzloff, 90, of Winamac, passed away at 5:05 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born Aug. 28, 1933, in Los Herreras, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, to Juan and Irene (Salinas) Mejia.
Tina married George Tetzloff on Aug. 11, 1955, in Monterrey, Mexico. They shared 52 wonderful years together. They had three boys. Her favorite times were spent with her family, including Bunco, competitive card games, and board games. She attended ball games, shows, graduations, and special occasions, and enjoyed traveling to visit her family. She took great pride in the accomplishments of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Tina was a retired farmer who did not hesitate to drive a tractor, combine or farm equipment. She was also a proud homemaker who was known for her gardening, baking, painting and woodwork. She spent countless hours in her gardens tending to flowers, fruits and vegetables. She was famous for her sugar cookies, pies, Mexican wedding cakes and Mexican foods. Her paintings were varied but she gravitated toward barns and winter scenes. Tina was a Pulaski County REACT Team charter member and served for 30 years. She attended the Star City Community Church. She was always willing to help other people and never hesitated to extend a helping hand to friends, neighbors, and strangers.
Survivors include sons: Mark Tetzloff and Bill [Gail] Tetzloff both of Winamac, Michael [Jennifer] Tetzloff of Star City; grandchildren: Jeff [Cassie] Tetzloff of Maricopa, Arizona, Brad [Brittney] Tetzloff and Tami Bonnell [Brian Gaillard] both of Winamac, Lori [Casey] Fisher of Charlotte, North Carolina, Katie [Isaac] Tetzloff of Dallas, Texas, Bob Tetzloff of Star City, Joey [Katie] Tetzloff of Warrenton, Virginia, and Rachel Tetzloff [Prade Cockrell] of Benton, Louisiana; great-grandchildren: Nick Tetzloff, Kylee Tetzloff, Brayden Bonnell, Olivia Bonnell, Bently Bonnell, Layne Tetzloff, Linlee [Mason] Dean, Cooper Fisher, Collins Fisher, Emmett Tetzloff, Theo Tetzloff, Jordan Tetzloff; brother Juan [Juanita] Mejia, McAllen, Texas; sisters-in-law Elsa Mejia of McAllen, Texas, June Tetzloff of Sturgis, Michigan; brother-in-law John Tetzloff of Edwardsville, Kansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Juan and Irene (Salinas) Mejia; husband George Tetzloff; infant sister Bertha Mejia; brothers: Alexandro [Olga] Mejia, Raul [Marguerita] Mejia and Javier Mejia; sisters-in-law: Jeanette [Cecil] Trainer, Lois [Chuck] Hickle and Jane Tetzloff; and brother-in-law Hugh Tetzloff.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 11, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac.
Funeral services will follow at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac with Rev. Edward Clark officiating.
Burial will take place at Winamac Cemetery (McKinley Addition) in Winamac.
Memorial contributions may be made to Star City Community Church.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Frain Mortuary in Winamac.
