Edna M. Bonnell

Feb. 19, 1923 — Sept. 27, 2026

Edna M. Bonnell, a lifelong resident of Pulaski County, passed away Sunday, Sept. 27, at Hickory Creek in Winamac, at the age of 103.

She was born on Feb. 19, 1923 in Pulaski, to the late Edward J. and Josephine E. (Russell) Miller. She was raised in the town of Pulaski and graduated from Pulaski High School in 1941. On Sept. 4, 1948, Edna married Leon H. Bonnell at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pulaski. He passed away on June 28, 1982. Edna worked as a cook for the Eastern Pulaski Community School Corporation in Winamac for 22 years, retiring in 1990.  

Edna was a devout catholic and longtime member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Winamac where she was active with the Christian Mothers and Ladies of Charity organizations. She was also a member of the Pulaski Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Monroe Modern Homemakers Club. Edna spent countless hours volunteering at the Good Samaritan store and helping with funeral dinners.

Edna was truly blessed with musical talent. As a young lady, she played the accordion at school dances, and throughout adulthood, she played the keyboard. She especially enjoyed playing the keyboard at local nursing homes as well as the Von Tobel Senior Center. At some point in her 90’s, she decided to “retire” from playing the keyboard.  

Edna loved her family very much, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Eternal rest grant unto her o’ Lord.  

She is survived by sons: Jerry [wife: Ann] Bonnell, Winamac and Alan Bonnell, Indianapolis; daughter Barbara [husband: Brad] Wallace, Crosslake, Minnesota; grandsons: Matthew [wife: Christine] Bonnell, Bryan Bonnell and Craig [wife: Liz] Wallace; granddaughter Hayley [husband: Mike] Seide; nine great-grandchildren: Dennis, Austin, Dylan, Jasmine, Eleanor, Tate, Lucy, Jacoby and Kiley; and several nieces and nephews. 

Preceded in death by parents: Edward J. and Josephine E. (Russell) Miller; husband Leon H. Bonnell; grandson Jeremy Bonnell; sisters: Anna Miller and Dorothy Miller; and brothers: John Miller and Richard Miller. 

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 8, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. 

A scriptural wake service will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 8, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac with Rev. Leroy Kinnaman officiating. The Rosary will be prayed immediately following the scriptural wake service. 

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 9, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Winamac with Rev. Leroy Kinnaman officiating.

Burial will take place at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Winamac.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
