Betty E. Doll

June 10, 1926 — Oct. 18, 2024

Betty E. Doll, 98, of Francesville, passed away Friday, Oct. 18, at the Pulaski Health Care Center in Winamac. She was born on June 10, 1926, in Hammond, to the late Purl and Gladys Evernham Goble. On June 13, 1948 Betty married Gilford Doll in Francesville. He passed away on Nov. 25, 1992.  

Betty was a 1944 graduate of Francesville High School. She was a member of the St. James Salem United Church of Christ in Francesville, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and was a member of the Ladies Guild. Betty was a member of the Metamonong Chapter DAR , Colonial Dames and the Happy Homemakers Home-EC Club.

Betty had worked at the Kingsbury ordinance plant and Von Tobel’s in Francesville. She had also worked as a teaching assistant in Adult Education at Portage Township Schools and as a cook at West Central Schools.

She is survived by son  Glen [Bobbi] Doll, Francesville; daughters: Mary Ortman, Winamac, Donna [Wayne] Rummel, Nappanee, Evelyn [Ray] Cramer, Winamac and Rev. Judith Doll, Francesville; grandsons: Zachary Doll, Andy [Emily] Rummel and Peter [Kelli]  Rummel; granddaughters: Kelsey Doll, Kelly Ortman, Kathy Brackett, Kari [Micah] Combs, Kimberly [Kenny] Sanders, Natalie [Jeremy] Lederhouse and Grace Rausch; step-grandson Keith Cramer; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and brother John “Jack” [Joyce] Goble.

Preceded in death by parents: Purl and Gladys Evernham Goble; husband Gilford Doll; daughter Barbara Doll; grandson Brian Ortman; sons-in-law: Mark Rausch and James Ortman; sister Shirley Overman; half-brother Gareth Goble; sisters-in-law: Carol Goble and Terri Goble.

Visitation was from 3 - 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 22 at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Francesville.

Funeral services were at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 23, at  Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Francesville with Rev. Judith Doll and Kay Bond officiating.  

Burial took place at St. James Salem Cemetery in Francesville.
