Benjamin Adam Robbins
Benjamin Adam Robbins, 37, of Winamac, formerly of Kewanna, passed away on Wednesday, June 21.
He was born on April 14, 1986, in Hartford City to Randal Alan and Susan Carol (Batten) Robbins. Ben graduated from North Judson San Pierre High School in 2004. He served in the Indiana Army National Guard for eight years – with 14 months of active duty service in Iraq.
Ben worked for Norfolk Southern Railroad for 11 years where he started as a conductor and worked his way up to engineer and remote operator. Ben worked at FedEx for a while before going to work at Rochester Metal Products where he was currently employed. He was a member of United Steel Workers Union Local #3261-01.
Ben was a talented mechanic who liked to tinker on cars. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially bonfires, hunting, and fishing. Ben especially enjoyed building model cars with his kids (he had a lot of patience).
On June 30, 2011, Ben married Marissa Ann Roe in Monticello. She survives. They lived at Lake Bruce for eleven years before recently moving to Winamac. Ben loved his family very much, especially his children who were his heart and soul. The kids will always have good memories of playing baseball with their dad. Ben will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife Marissa Ann (Roe) Robbins of Winamac; daughters: Trista Kay Robbins of Winamac, Elizabeth Marie Robbins of Winamac and Annabelle Sophia Robbins of Winamac; son Benjamin Adam Robbins II of Winamac; parents: Randal Alan and Susan Carol (Batten) Robbins of Buckeye, Arizona; sisters: Abigail [James] Peterson of Buckeye, Arizona and Megan [Brandon] Mareska of Buckeye, Arizona; brothers: Christopher Robbins of Medaryville, Nathaniel [Tyler] Robbins of Goodyear, Arizona and Caleb [Taylor] Robbins of Kewanna; 12 nieces and nephews: Quintin, Mallory, Qwest, Keegan, Koltyn, Chloe, Isabella, Octavia, Caleb Jr., Zuri, Peyton and Camden; maternal grandmother Joyce Batten of Hartford City; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; father-in-law Robert Roe of Forest; three brothers-in-law: Robert, Barri and Duke; two sisters-in-law: Andrea and Katherine; and former wife Heather Stavedahl of Winamac.
He was preceded in death by brother Jeremiah Robbins; nephew Isaac Robbins; aunt Melody Batten; and mother-in-law Melissa Lovett.
Visitation was from 3-6 p.m., Tuesday, June 27 at Frain Mortuary in Winamac.
Funeral services were held at 6 p.m., Tuesday, June 27 at Frain Mortuary in Winamac with Pastor Stephen Sundquist officiating.
Private disposition will take place at a later date.
