Barbara J. “Barb” Parcel
Barbara Jean “Barb” Parcel, 90, of Star City, passed away Monday, Dec. 9, at Pulaski Health Care Center in Winamac.
She was born on July 28, 1934, to the late Harold G. and Mary E. (Artrip) Watson. Barb was a graduate of Logansport High School. On Dec. 12, 1954, she married Darwin W. “Doc” Parcel in Logansport. They enjoyed many years of time spent at Foxwood Hills in Middlebury. Doc passed away on Nov. 11, 2013.
Barb was a former member of the Star City United Methodist Church and a former Den Mother for Cub Scouts. Through the years, Barb worked for Weight Watchers and was also a babysitter as well as a bookkeeper. Her proudest accomplishment was being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Barb was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed crocheting. She enjoyed collecting various knickknacks and was known to go over-the-top when decorating for holidays. Barb will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by sons: Mick [Kathy] Parcel, Winamac, David [Weez] Parcel, Winamac and Doug [Michelle] Parcel, DeMotte; grandsons: Aaron [Adriane] Parcel, Chattanooga, Tennessee, Steven [Katie] Polstra, Winamac, D.J. Parcel, Lafayette; granddaughters: Sarah Chase, Vicksburg, Michigan, Tarrah [Matthew] Ledford, Francesville, Abbey [Jake] Berger, Winamac, Danielle [Justin] Dommer, Winamac and Erika Parcel, DeMotte; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; brother-in-law Buck Parcel, Winamac; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by mother Mary E. (Artrip) Watson; father Harold G. Watson; step-mother Irene V. Watson; and husband Darwin W. “Doc” Parcel.
Visitation was from 4-8 p.m., Friday, Dec. 13, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 14, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac with Aaron Parcel officiating.
Burial took place at Star City West Cemetery in Star City.
