Arvilla A. Crissinger

Arvilla A. Crissinger, 80, of Star City, passed away at 9:50 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at Hickory Creek at Winamac in Winamac.

She was born April 9, 1935, in Denham, to Ralph and Maxine (Werth) Rater.

Arvilla married Thomas W. Crissinger on Dec. 3, 1954, in Jeffersonville. Tom died Sept. 15, 2013.

Arvilla had worked as a telephone operator for several years. She retired as a nursing assistant at the Logansport State Hospital.

Arvilla was a member of the Denham Baptist Church in Denham.

She enjoyed crocheting, reading and watching all types of sports. Arvilla was a big NASCAR fan. She enjoyed listening to music, especially Conway Twitty. She also enjoyed watching and listening to birds.

Arvilla especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her sons: David T. [Elaine] Crissinger of Winamac, Michael L. Crissinger of Star City, Jonathan M. [Michelle] Crissinger Sr. of Plymouth, and Jesse F. Peter of Star City; daughter Kathleen I. Taff of Winamac; 10 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and sister Beverly [Larry] Tanner of Medaryville.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Maxine S. (Werth) Rater; husband Thomas W. Crissinger; brother Carl Rater; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one son-in-law; and one granddaughter-in-law.

No funeral services will be scheduled.
