Alfred L. “Pete” Budd II
Alfred L. “Pete” Budd II, 56, of Winamac, passed away in his home with his family at his side on Saturday, Jan. 21, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on June 27, 1960, in Logansport, to the late Peelee and Lucy Budd. Pete was a 1979 graduate of Winamac High School. On Jan. 5, 1980, Pete married the love of his life, Deb Girton. She survives. Together, they enjoyed traveling, especially to the Great Smoky Mountains.
Pete worked as a special projects engineer at Braun Corporation for 38 years where he was well-liked and respected. His ingenuity was not limited to work — his talents are showcased in the many projects he completed at his home and his kids’ homes.
Pete enjoyed mushroom and arrowhead hunting, gardening and grilling, as well as campfires. He loved animals, especially his cat, Tucker.
Pete was a loving and generous husband, dad, father-in-law, papaw, brother and friend. His “grandbabies” were the light of his life and his world. Pete will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife Debra L. “Deb” Girton Budd of Winamac; daughters Nicole “Nikki” [David] Georgine of Rochester, and Allison [Jon] Crider of Berne; son Daniel [Karri] Budd of Antwerp, Ohio; granddaughters: Ginnie Murphy, Tori Murphy, Lexy Murphy, and Riley Jo Budd; sisters: Candy [Mike] Jones of Adamsboro, and Dawn [Ed] Edwards of Star City; brother Charlie [Mark Fout] Budd of El Paso, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alfred L. “Peelee” and Mary Lucille “Lucy” (Johnson) Budd; and nephew Andrew Charles Budd.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac with Chaplain Joe Mollet officiating. Burial will take place at McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Winamac.
