Thomas E. Anspach

Tom Anspach, 92, of Winamac, passed away April 11. Tom graduated from Winamac High School in 1951 and Milwaukee School of Engineering in 1959. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War. Tom worked at Western Electric/Bell Labs in Whippany, New Jersey. Tom retired as a project engineer from Honeywell Aeronautics (Space Division) in 1995. He enjoyed working on state-of-the-art electronic projects. A highlight of his career was leaving his name with many others on Mars (via the Viking Lander).  

Throughout his life, Tom enjoyed sailing, traveling and riding his motorcycle. One of his favorite journeys was his “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles Trip.” He was an avid soccer fan. Tom enjoyed his retirement years, volunteering his time at WUSF Public Radio Station in Tampa and Caladesi Island State Park in Dunedin, Florida. He also devoted his time and efforts to the Panhandle Pathway in Pulaski and Cass counties. He was always generous and enthusiastic when it came to local projects. 

Tom loved his friends and family very much. He enjoyed trips with his motorcycle buddies as well as sitting around the campfire with friends and family (drinking beer, telling tires and kicking lies). Tom loved his wife, Patty, and they enjoyed over 50 years of marriage.  More than anything, he cherished visiting his children and grandchildren who are scattered across the country.  

He is survived by his wife, Patty Anspach; his children: Marie [Brian] Messing, Tommy Anspach, Jeff [Linda] Anspach and Bruce [Ruth] Anspach; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers: Gene [Rena] Anspach and Earl Anspach; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents: Floyd M. and Clarisse M. Anspach; and three brothers: Carl Anspach, John Anspach and Ken Anspach.  

Burial with military honors took place at Winamac Cemetery.  

Memorial contributions may be made to Friends of the Panhandle Pathway. 

Arrangements were entrusted to Frain Mortuary.  

Lives Come and Go and Life Goes On. Till We Meet Again.
