Harry R. Steele

May 30, 1939 — March 14, 2026

Harry R. Steele, 86 of Winamac, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, March 14, at home.

Born on May 30, 1939, in Pulaski County, he was the son of the late Albert and Alice Marie (Smith) Steele.

Harry was a proud U.S. Navy veteran where he served aboard the U.S.S. Philip. On Dec. 16, 1994, he married Sharon Tolley, she survives.

He was a well-known drug and alcohol counselor in the area. Harry was also a passionate advocate for AA.  

Harry enjoyed playing golf with his son Jim and his friend, Bill.  He was also an avid Green Bay Packer, Indiana Hoosier and Chicago Cubs fan.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon “Shari” Steele of Winamac; children: James Steele of Florida, Sam Steele [Paula] of Logansport, Molly Holcomb [Gary] of Royal Center, Stephen Altman of Monticello and Stacey Ferraro [James] of Warsaw; and brother, Thomas Steele of Winamac.  He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services with military rites will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 21, at Kewanna Church of Christ, 116 S. Logan St., Kewanna, Indiana 46939. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Kewanna Church of Christ and/or the Tippecanoe AA Group, 201 E. Spring St., Winamac.
