NOTICE OF HEARING ON PROPOSED RATES AND CHARGES
Property owners and other interested parties in the Town of Monterey, Indiana, are hereby notified that Ordinance No. 1 of 2025 amending the established rates and charges for services to be rendered by the Sewage Works was introduced at a meeting of the Town of Monterey Town Council on April 8, 2025. The Monterey Town Council will hold a public hearing on May 13, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. (EST) in the Monterey Town Hall, 7033 N. Walnut St., Monterey, IN, on the matter of rates and charges, and consideration of the adoption of said Ordinance No. 1 of 2025. At the hearing, and prior to adoption of any amendments to said Ordinance, all interested parties may appear and be heard. A copy of the proposed amendments to Ordinance No. 1 of 2025 may be examined at the Office of the Clerk-Treasurer and the Monterey-Tippecanoe Public Library, during normal business hours.
(a) The sewage rates and charges shall be based on the quantity of water used on or in the property or premises subject to such rates and charges as the same is determined by equivalent single-family dwelling units. Sewage service bills shall be rendered once each month (or period equaling a month). The schedule on which said rates and charges shall be determined is as follows:

(b) Monthly rates and charges provided herein shall be applied throughout the year based upon the maximum sewage service required in any month in any calendar year. For example, the user charges based upon employment of the user for such maximum employment month, and such maximum usage shall be applied through the year.
(c) The monthly rates and charges provided herein may be reduced by the Town for rental properties during the period in which such structures are actually vacant, provided the owner shall apply to the Town for such reduction and have the rental property disconnected from the sewage system, paying the appropriate sewage disconnect fee. In the event such an application is approved by the Town, the user charges shall be reduced to the then current debt service charge for said structure. Upon the rental property becoming occupied, the owner shall immediately notify the Town and have the property reconnected to the Town sewage system, paying the appropriate fee for reconnect, and the monthly rates.
