Scarlet E. Kennedy
Scarlet Elizabeth Kennedy, (nee Gower), age 33, of Medaryville, passed away April 12 at Franciscan Hospital in Crown Point after a courageous battle with cancer.
Scarlet was born in Munster on April 26, 1991. She grew up in Whiting until middle school, when she moved to Medaryville, where she resided until her death. Scarlet was a very loving, kind-hearted person who spent all her career since the age of 14 in the medical field. She was a CNA and currently in the Nursing Program with Ivy Tech studying to become a nurse. Scarlet was an excellent CNA and made many friends along the way and most importantly left an impact on her many residents/patients who she lovingly cared for. Until her illness stopped her from continuing to work she was last employed at Rensselaer Care Center in Rensselaer where she is missed and loved by so many.
Scarlet’s family has always been her main focus. Her five children she leaves behind were the true love of her life. She did absolutely everything for the kids sake. Juggling school and work she still made it to nearly every single game, band and dance performances that her five kids were in. She fought a tough battle for her kids, with all her might, against this horrible evil cancer. When Scarlet had time off she had great fun camping, growing a veggie garden and just hanging around in the yard watching her five kids play and grow up. She also enjoyed her pets.
Scarlet is survived by her five loving children: Kaleb Kovach, Kaylee (Kai) Kovach, Kaylynn Kovach (father Derek Kovach and wife Katie), Gwendelyn Kennedy and Amelia Kennedy (father Jordan Kennedy); brothers: Rob Biella and his children Collin, Allie and Skylar, JJ, Madison and his children Izaiah, Austyn and Luke; parents: Lesley and Billy Gower; and godmother Aunty Terry Clark.
Deep appreciation to her special at home caregivers, Katie her RN and Olivia her NP, many many friends, neighbors, her residents, coworkers and other family. Last but not least, a very special friend and her former sister-in-law, Nikki Knight. She came to our rescue with her loving care and Hospice knowledge and helped Scarlet through her last days. We will be eternally grateful to her.
Scarlet will be cremated and a celebration of life will be held on April 26 at First Christian Church of Francesville, 192 E. Lyman St., Francesville, Indiana 47946. Service at 1 p.m., followed by a meal and open house until 5 p.m. Casual attire and everyone welcome. Her friends have set up a Go Fund Me to benefit her children. https://gofund.me/cc016202.
