Susan L. “Sue” Baker

Susan L. “Sue” Baker, 79, of Kewanna, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, in Mishawaka. She was born on Feb. 4, 1945, in Connersville, to the late Chester and Nellie (Reeder) Pavy. After graduating from Connersville High School, Sue attended Ball State University where she met her future husband, Paul C. Baker. The couple wed on Jan. 26, 1965, in Cassopolis, Michigan. He passed away on Dec. 2, 2011. Later in life, Sue completed her secondary education at IU Kokomo, earning a bachelor’s degree and becoming a licensed teacher. Fondly known as Mrs. Baker to her students, Sue was a beloved educator; teaching elementary school at Winamac and Knox. She enjoyed worshiping at Bethel Bible Church in Winamac where she was a longtime member. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Sue loved our Lord, Jesus Christ, throughout her life and was a faithful servant to Him until her last breath. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Survivors include sons: Trent R. [Amy] Baker and Chad M. [Samantha] Baker; daughter Kristy Kay [Wyatt] Showley; grandsons: Andy M. McComas-Baker, Joel M. Showley, Ethan A. Showley, Aiden P. Showley and Brady P. Baker; granddaughters: Jaqualyn S. McComas-Baker and Bryce S. Baker; brother-in law Dennis R. Baker; cousins-in-law: John L. [Jackie] Baker and David W. [Phyllis] Baker; nephew Michael D. [Traci] Martin; nieces: Danielle L. Baker and Brittany N. Baker; many great nieces and nephews; and best friend Martha K. Krohn.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Chester L. and Nellie M. (Reeder) Pavy; husband Paul C. Baker; in-laws: Chester R. and Sarah L. (Davidson) Baker; sister-in-law Lucinda L. Martin; brother-in-law Robert C. Martin; and nephew C. Chet Martin.

Visitation was from 2-6 pm. Sunday, July 28 at Frain Mortuary in Winamac.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 29, at Bethel Bible Church in Winamac with Pastor Matthew Dodd officiating. Additional visitation was held from 1-2 p.m. prior to the funeral.

Burial took place at Winamac Cemetery (McKinley Addition) in Winamac.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Foundation of Pulaski County for the Paul C. Baker Memorial Scholarship Fund, Bethel Bible Church or Gideon’s International
