Public hearing to be held on Medaryville water rate increase

It was announced at a Sept. 15 Medaryville Town Council meeting that a public hearing will be held in October for the town's proposed new water rates for 2023. A water study was recently conducted by BakerTilly and it was recommended that the town look into raising rates for its water utility. They suggested that the town raise rates a total of 9%, and the council decided to not implement a phase-in approach and to instead have it take effect all at once. For the average water user, that would be a total of a $5 increase. The hearing is scheduled to be held at 5 p.m. prior to their Oct. 20 regular meeting.
