Gene Horn

Gene Horn, 86, of Kewanna, passed away Saturday, Oct. 1, at 11:18 a.m. in Woodbridge Health Campus of Logansport.

Born Dec. 21, 1929, to the late Earnest S. and Mary C. (Bassler) Horn. On Nov. 9, 1952 at Lake Bruce, he married Ellen G. Peters, who survives.

Gene was the owner and operator of Horn Development. He and his wife Ellen developed and were the former owners of County Line Landfill in Fulton County.

Gene was a member of the Fulton Masonic Lodge #665, Elks Lodge #2120, Moose Lodge #1107 and the Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend. Gene was a humble man throughout his life and his unmistakable laugh and quick wit will be missed by many. 

Survivors, including his wife Ellen, are one son, Dale Horn, Rochester; daughters; Ruth [Rob] Baker of Logansport; Karen [John] Glaser of San Antonio, Texas; Lois [Jack] Shoup of Delphi; sisters: Mary Lou Parish of New York; Elaine Eudy of Logansport; Beverly Alger of Florida; brothers: Maurice [Janet] Horn of Rochester; Larry [Peggy] Horn of Kewanna; twelve grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, Oct. 6, from 2-8 p.m. at Gundrum Funeral Home. There will be a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, at Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor George Hapner officiating. Burial will be in the Metea Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children or to the Fulton Masonic Lodge.
