Madolynne Joyce Werner

Madolynne Joyce Werner, 92, of Winamac, went to be home with the Lord and her husband, Bob, on Sunday, Aug. 28. 

Madolynne was born on Jan. 16, 1924, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to the late Harry R. and Anna L. (Balch) Nelson Sr. She married Robert Werner on Feb. 4, 1945, in Kalamazoo. He preceded her in death on Feb. 22, 1973.

Madolynne was a dedicated farm wife and mother. She always put her husband and children first. Over the years she had worked at Tee-Pac and Singer/Eaton. 

She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, reading and watching western movies (especially John Wayne). 

Madolynne loved her family very much and will be dearly missed.  

Survivors include her sons: John [Linda] Werner of Winamac, James [Pamela] Werner of South Bend, and Jerry [Shirley] Werner of Kewanna; daughters: Margaret “Maggie” [Robert] Cole of Stuart, Florida, and Margo Hankins of Westfield; granddaughters: Vicki [John] Franklin, Traci [Scott] Chlebowski, Jenna Werner, Heather [Mike] Boyd, Stacey [Randy] Ibarra and Sabrina [Brett] Muckridge; grandsons: Michael Werner, Jason [Christina] Werner and Troy Cole; 17 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Helen Nelson of Portage, Michigan; brother-in-law Richard [Evelyn] Werner of Winamac; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Harry R. and Anna L. (Balch) Nelson Sr.; husband Robert Werner; infant daughter Janet Lee Werner; brother Harry R. Nelson, Jr.; and sister Marguerite “Peg” Poteet. 

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, and one hour prior to services Thursday at Frain Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac, with Rev. Ruth Waite and Don Franklin officiating. Burial will take place in Winamac Cemetery, Winamac.
