Reid Neil Heisner

Jan. 20, 1958 — Aug. 3, 2016

Reid Neil Heisner, 58, of Star City, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 3. He died unexpectedly at Pulaski Memorial Hospital. 

Reid was born on Jan. 20, 1958, in Schererville, to Neil and Sue Heisner. He was a graduate of Lake Central High School. On Sept. 20, 1990, he married the love of his life Patricia Toosley in Winamac. She survives. 

Reid was an active member of the Star City United Methodist Church. He had served in the US Navy on the USS Saratoga. He was formerly employed at Moyer Grain in Star City.

He enjoyed gardening, picking blackberries and raspberries, and making homemade jam. He enjoyed listening to music, especially Pink Floyd. Reid especially enjoyed fishing in Alaska with his father, Neil, and riding his bicycle on the Panhandle Pathway. Most recently, he had become an avid metal detector.

Reid loved his wife and family very much. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be sorely missed. 

Survivors include his wife Patricia A. Toosley Heisner of Star City; sons: Robert W. Beiswanger of Francesville, Roger L. [Amie] Beiswanger of Francesville, and Richard A. Beiswanger of Francesville; daughter Mary A. [Walter] Craig of Star City; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; father Neil [Pauline] Heisner of Port Charlotte, Florida; and sisters: Cari Heisner and Jill Heisner. 

He was preceded in death by his mother Sue (Morrison) Heisner. 

Visitation was from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. Services were at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8, at Star City United Methodist Church, Star City. Rev. Ruth Waite officiated. Burial took place in Star City West Cemetery, Star City. Military graveside services were conducted by the American Legion and VFW.

Memorial contributions may be given to funeral home to help the family with funeral expenses.
