David L. Shepperd

David Lee Shepperd, 61, of Medaryville, died on Tuesday evening, April 5, in Pulaski Memorial Hospital. 

He was born on Sept. 15, 1954, in Culver, to Vennis “Jack” and Irene (Cegielski) Shepperd. He grew up and lived most of his life in Medaryville. He attended West Central High School and was a heavy equipment operator with Local 150 for over 41 years. David worked hard all of his life. He was a truck driver having several semis and enjoyed hauling logs and steel. David’s CB name was “Day Tripper.” 

He was also involved in many of the family businesses that included logging, a saw mill, pallet factory and a salvage yard. 

Mr. Shepperd was very passionate about his hometown. He worked on sewer projects to improve the water system. He put his heart into town politics. This got him involved in some very heated debates. 

David was an avid fisherman. When he had a pole in his hand you better get out of his way. 

David joined God’s family shortly before he passed away. He was baptized in Jesus’ name at the hospital surrounded by his loving family. 

If David was your friend, you had a friend for life. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him. 

David is survived by his brothers: Michael, Daniel, Mark “Red,” Perry and Matthew; sisters Susie and Sherry; sons: Christopher and Austin; six granddaughters; Jasmine Conley, whom he considered a daughter; and David Cornett, who helped take care of him through his illness. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Irene Shepperd; and niece Sabrina. 

Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 9 at 10 a.m. in Soul’s Harbor Church, North Judson. Burial followed in White Post Cemetery, Medaryville.
