Richard Niewiadomski
Richard Niewiadomski, 54, of Winamac (formerly of Crown Point), passed away at 7:45 p.m. Sunday, April 3, at his home with his family by his side after a two-year battle with non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
Rich was born on Nov. 4, 1961, in East Chicago, to Joseph and Lorraine (Bezek) Niewiadomski. He attended Lake Central High School.
On Nov. 25, 1994, he married Sharon Carrasco in Crown Point. She survives.
Rich was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Winamac. He worked for Bob Evans Restaurant in Valparaiso for more than 20 years.
Rich had many hobbies. He was very active and adventurous, a true outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Rich was creative, always thinking out of the box. He could tackle any problem with his resourcefulness and ingenuity. No challenge was too great.
He was a man of many talents — from cooking to home renovation. He was a superhero to his wife and daughters. Evenings with his girls including his loved puppy, Lucia, were filled with backyard camping, movie nights, bonfires, midnight swims, and lots and lots of laughter. He made life fun.
Rich was always quick with a smile and a joke. Even in a trying time, he could turn it around with a flash of a grin and his twinkling blue eyes. With spirit, courage, and bravery, he served as a role model, even in his final days fighting cancer. His family was blessed to have him, and he will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his wife Sharon (Carrasco) Niewiadomski of Winamac; daughters Francesca Niewiadomski, Anabella Niewiadomski, Adrienne Niewiadomski, and Caroline Niewiadomski, all of Winamac; Lorraine (Bezek) Niewiadomski of Crown Point; brothers: Joseph [Autumn] Niewiadomski Jr. of Dyer, David [Sherrie] Niewiadomski of St. John, Dennis Niewiadomski of St. John, John [Donna] Niewiadomski of Crown Point, Frank [Katherine] Niewiadomski of Crown Point, and Adam Niewiadomski of Crown Point; sister Maryann [Tony] Carrillo of Dyer; mother-in-law Barbara Carrasco; brothers-in-law Michael [Donna] Carrasco and Robert [Yolanda] Carrasco; sister-in-law Laura [Robert] Freed; and many nieces and nephews.
