Alice Irene Montgomery
Alice Irene Montgomery, 93, of Greenwood, formerly of Logansport, passed away at 5:45 a.m. Thursday, April 7, at Greenwood Village in Greenwood.
She was born Nov. 2, 1922, in Star City, to Milo and Muriel (Penny) Bonnell.
Alice married Forest Harvey “Frosty” Montgomery on Dec. 28, 1941, in the Star City United Methodist Church. Forest died Jan. 5, 2015.
She and her husband were members of the Main Street United Methodist Church in Logansport. Alice was a longtime member of the Dinshigers Club of railroad engineers. She was a longtime “New Deal Democrat.” Alice was a skilled seamstress, an excellent baker and was financially savvy. She and Frosty spent many years in North Fort Myers, Florida. She was a good life-skills teacher for her grandchildren.
Alice was a realtor and had been a partner with her husband in Montgomery Realty Inc.
Alice will be sadly missed by her children, grandchildren, friends and family.
Survivors include her daughter Marsha Lynn [David] Sander of Indianapolis; son Philip [Paula Dittrick] Montgomery of Houston, Texas; granddaughters: Sarah Elaine [Sam] Schilling of Northampton, Massachusetts, Elizabeth Irene Sander of Indianapolis, and Anna Michelle [Adam] King of Greenwood; grandson Zachary Hugo [Elissa] Sander of Seattle, Washington; great-granddaughter Addilyn Grace Sander; and brother Wayne [Mary Lou] Bonnell of Star City.
She was preceded in death by her parents Milo and Muriel Grace (Penny) Bonnell; husband Forest Harvey “Frosty” Montgomery; brothers: Owen Bonnell, Howard “Buck” Bonnell and Argel “Spud” Bonnell; sisters: Bonnie Hiatt, Dorothy Bonnell, Margaret Bechdol and Mildred Roth.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at Frain Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac, with Rev. Ruth Waite officiating. Burial will take place in Buck Cemetery, Thornhope.
