Barbara J. Engle

Barbara J. Engle, 74, of Kewanna, passed away at 1:52 p.m., Saturday, May 16, at Indiana University Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.

Born on Aug. 25, 1940, in Lebanon, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Anna Koopman.

She was the 1958 valedictorian at Pittsboro High School.

On May 15, 1982, she married Robert C. Engle in Brownsburg.

Barbara was formerly employed as the Head Underwriter at American States Insurance Company in Indianapolis for 20 years.

Barbara was a follower and believer of the Worldwide Church of God Seventh Day and she enjoyed gardening and taking care of her flowers.

Survivors include her loving husband Robert “Bob” Engle of Kewanna; brother Norman [Mildred] Koopman of Pittsboro; nieces and nephews: Tina Koopman, Robin and Jim Woodburn, Tom and Jackie Foust, Penny Keyser, Nancy Ewing, Cindy and Rick Eastwood, Sue and Ken Hamman, Larry and Joyce Donathen and Jon and Diana Donathen; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 20, at Lizton Knights of Pythia Cemetery in Lizton.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Foundation and/or the American Heart Association.
