Lowell R. Podell
Lowell R. Podell, 95, of Winamac, passed away at 10:30 p.m. Friday, March 27, at Pulaski Health Care Center in Winamac.
He was born Aug. 19, 1919, in Winamac, to Theodore and Mary (Dressler) Podell.
Lowell was married on June 6, 1942, in Hammond, to Helen F. Timm. Helen passed away Dec. 1, 2008.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Denham, where he had served as an elder.
Lowell was a retired farmer and had lived his entire life on the family farm. He enjoyed gardening and was always sharing his watermelons with the neighbors. He loved to take fishing trips to Canada with his family.
He was a former 4-H leader and former member of the Pulaski County Fair Board.
Lowell loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include sons: Raymond [Dee] Podell of Grand Forks, North Dakota and Rick [Jeannie] Podell of Walkerton; grandsons: Rob L. [Kathy] Podell of Grand Forks, North Dakota, Ryan L. Podell of Voorhees, New Jersey, and JT Podell of Jacksonville, Florida; granddaughter Kimberley I. Podell of Walkerton; great-grandsons: Jade R. Podell of Grand Forks, North Dakota, and Riley J. Podell of Walkerton; and great-granddaughter Myranda K. Podell of Grand Forks, North Dakota.
He was preceded in death by his parents Theodore and Mary (Dressler) Podell; wife Helen F. Timm Podell; sisters: Lydia Podell and Olga Rhode; brothers: Roger Podell, Luther Podell, Isadore Podell Sr. and Arthur Podell.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, April 2, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 3, at Frain Mortuary, with Pastor Mark Fakih officiating. Burial will take place in McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Winamac.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Denham.
