Tippecanoe River diesel spill update

According to the Pulaski County Emergency Management Agency, Indiana Department of Environmental Management IDEM) and Pulaski County Health Department Emergency Response Section, the recovery of the diesel fuel that was spilled into the Tippecanoe River on Friday, July 15, has been completed. The booms that were deployed across the river have been removed and there are currently no navigational  barriers.

There are no restrictions to activities on the river but recommendations are that all people use universal precautions. If you choose to boat, canoe, kayak, tube, swim or fish in the river, please exercise precautions such as cleaning with soap and water as soon as possible after your contact with the water in the river.

As the river rises and falls it could cause a periodic sheen on the water, please avoid those areas. IDEM will continue to monitor the situation and no further updates will be given unless necessary.
