Town of Medaryville Livestock Ordinance

TOWN OF MEDARYVILLE

ORDINANCE NO. 2016-05-01

KEEPING OF LIVESTOCK WITHIN TOWN LIMITS FORBIDDEN

WHEREAS, the Town Council for the Town of Medaryville reasonably believes that for purposes of health and safety, it is in the best interest of the Town and the residents herein to enact legislation forbidding certain types of animals/livestock.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Town Council of Medaryville, Indiana, as follows:

1. No person shall own, possess. raise, keep or have custody on his or her premises within the Town limits, for commercial use, personal use, for use as “a pet,” or for any other use, any animals classified as livestock, which shall include but not be limited to, horses, dairy and beef cattle, pigs, goats, sheep, fowl (including a hen and rooster), rabbits or any other animals raised and generally used for commercial or agricultural purposes or for any human or animal consumption.

2. Anyone in violation of this Ordinance from the date this Ordinance takes effect, shall be granted thirty (30) days to come into compliance with this Ordinance.

3. Whoever violates this Ordinance shall pay a civil penalty of not more than $100.00 for each violation. Each day in which any such violation shall continue shall be deemed a separate offense.

This Ordinance to be effective upon passage by the Council, any necessary publication, and any necessary approval by the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance.

Passed by the Town Council of Medaryville, Indiana, this 25th day of May, 2016 by a vote of two to one.
