William Hubert “Bill” Hoover Jr.

Dec. 9, 1931 — Jan. 25, 2018

William Hubert “Bill” Hoover Jr., 86, of Winamac, passed away at 8:25 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, at Hickory Creek in Winamac.  

Bill was born on Dec. 9, 1931, in Winamac, to the late William Hubert and Alice (McCann) Hoover. On Nov. 14, 1953, he married Pauline Rose in Winamac. She passed away May 20, 2017.

Bill was retired from Plymouth Tube in Winamac. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Winamac American Legion.

Bill enjoyed gardening, traveling and spending time with his family. He will be sadly missed.

He is survived by his daughters: Mary [Craig] Fosnaugh of Avilla, Twila [Joe] Slomka of Knox, and Laura [Daryn] Wilder of Lake Worth, Florida; son Robert Hoover of Avilla; daughter-in-law Shirley Duyag Hoover of Winamac; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents William Hubert and Alice (McCann) Hoover; wife Pauline Rose Hoover; infant sons: Richard Creed Hoover and William Harvey Hoover; son Hubert M. Hoover; sisters Ruth Ellen Bennett and Cora May Hoover; brothers: John Hoover and Hubert Hoover. 

Visitation was from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 29, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. Mark Hines officiated. Burial took place at the Winamac Cemetery in Winamac. The American Legion and VFW conducted military graveside services. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pulaski Animal Center, Hickory Creek or American Cancer Association.
