William “Bill” J. Poor

Feb. 26, 1950 — Sept. 27, 2021

William “Bill” J. Poor, 71, of Aniws, Wisconsin, passed away on Monday, Sept. 27 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. 

He was born on Feb. 26, 1950, in Winamac, to Willis B. and Marie E. (Reimer) Poor. He was a volunteer Vietnam War veteran who was wounded in action during his service. Upon his return, he was a quality management specialist and operations manager for several organizations in the Madison, Wisconsin, area. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, woodworking, gardening, and learning new things about himself and his faith. He helped to organize the girls’ softball program in Horicon, Wisconsin, and helped with the Pioneer program at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Kekoskee, Wisconsin.

He is survived by his three children: Michelle [Tim] Bauer, Trisha Poor and William C. [Christina Schrubbe] Poor; brother-in-law Steve Ward; half-sisters: Rebecca [Brian] Vis, Sylvia [Dan] Swan, and Jeanie Korth; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister Gail (Poor) Ward. 

Bill’s celebration of life ceremony will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 8 at Peace Lutheran Church, 1001 Center Street, Hartford, Wisconsin.
