Willard C. “Buck” Koebcke

March 13, 1928 — May 16, 2020

Willard C. “Buck” Koebcke, 92, a longtime resident of Francesville, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 16. He has lived the past four years at Fox River Apartments in Olney, Illinois. 

Buck was born on March 13, 1928, in Pulaski County, to the late Joseph and Flora (Kaupke) Koebcke. He served in the U.S. Army. On Dec. 31, 1951, Buck married the late DeMaris Bailey in Jeffersonville. He was a devoted member of the Francesville First Christian Church. 

Survivors include his daughters: Jackye [Blaine] Hites of Olney, Illinois, and Ellen [Harv] Gutwein of Francesville; granddaughters: Nicole [Robert] Schwartz of Peru, Holly [Shannon] Blan of Olney, Illinois, Heather [Kevin] Cox of Munster, and Summer [Karl] Schippert of Evansville; grandsons: Stuart [Alivia] Gutwein of Lafayette, Lance [Erica] Gutwein of Francesville, and Tyler [Lacie] Gutwein of Francesville; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; brother Sam [Rachel] Koebcke of Alabama; and sisters-in-law: Kay Koebcke of Florida, and Janelle Tiede of Francesville. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Flora (Kaupke) Koebcke; wife DeMaris Bailey Koebcke; four brothers; and four sisters. 

Private burial took place at St. James Salem Cemetery in Francesville. Pastor James Ketchen officiated.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fox River who provided several years of loving care to Buck. Checks may be made to Caritas and mailed to Fox River at 1016 Parker St. Olney, IL 62450.
