Walter “Jim” Davis

Walter James “Jim” Davis, 75, Monterey, died at 2:20 p.m. on Jan. 2, at his home in Monterey.

Jim was born on Nov. 2, 1939, in Lawton. He was the son of the late Arthur Raymond “Jim” Davis and Gladys Burkett Davis.

On June 18, 1987, he was married to Lorene D. Cooper Davis, who preceded him in death on Oct. 22, 2008.

Jim was employed at Plymouth Tube in Winamac where he worked for 35 years before his retirement. He loved sports including baseball, basketball, football, bowling and NASCAR. His best friend was his dog, “Bear.” He was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Eagles.

Survivors include his daughter Shawnna [Cyrus] Dillinger of Auburn; son Tim Davis of Monterey; stepsons: Tom Kasch of Logansport, and James Kasch of Jacksonville, North Carolina; sister Dorothy Morgan of Francesville; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his brothers: Jack Davis and David Davis.

Visitation was 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, and one hour before services on Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. Pastor Bill Guerin will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Cemetery in Monterey.
